Default Damn kids threw a rock at my car

<center><img src="http://www.benhuh.com/images/chipped.jpg"></center><p>
Some punks tossed a rock at the side of the car creating a nice dime-sized engraving just now. I was so pissed, I tracked down the kid but I couldn't be proof positive that it was him -- although I am pretty sure. The kid comes from a troubled home with abusive parents and has behavioral problems. I just ended up letting them go. I was convinced that they would beat the living daylights out of him if I pursued this. Now, all I can do is pay out of my own pocket to get it repaired. What should I do? Paint the whole rear quarterpanel or just get it spot painted?

Default I can relate to your situation.

I had a similar experience with my passenger side door where the paint had actually cracked down to the surface. I had to pay out of my own pocket, but what the body shop actually did was spot paint and then clear the entire door. No one would ever know that the door had been dinged. I am sure whatever body shop you take it too would have a good idea of how to go about repairing this. If it is a very good one, you could get away with spot painting the area. Just make sure you trust the guys you take it to. If you are anything like me, when it comes to body work, nothing can ever be over worked.

Default Ugggh.. I'd try to rub out as much as possible and see what's left.

Insurance claim here? I think a good shop would also be able to blend it no problem if need be.

It'll be fine and the kid won't get beaten. Then you can play Mr. Miyagi with him later and teach him how to polish and wax your car...just don't let him drive it! : )

Good luck, sucks, it'll work out though.

Default I feel more sorry for the kid =(

Its problems liek this in our society which irritate me. The lack of Emotional Education for our youth and the lack of the same education for thier parents creating hell hole environments that mess kids up who will in turn mess thier own kids up until someone breaks the cycle somehow.. Sad.....

Sorry bout your car man, hope you can fix it right up!

right now I;m working on the side of my Mitsubishi Galant LS becuase for some reason thier was a large piece of scrap metal in the middle of the freeway that decided to attack me....

Default I do too

I was just listening to this poor kid cry his eyes out when I told them I wanted to talk to his parents. The parent of the other child I was talking to begged me not to talk to the kids' stepdad. That's just so sad. The kid was 11 and apparently spent some time in a "correctional education center." He's ELEVEN! It's totally senseless what parents do to their kids and this family has seven of them. If this 11-year-old is messed up, imagine the 6 other ones...

Default You should have to take tests and apply for a license to procreate and raise children...

These things are too important to leave up to some people. Being raised in a hostile and unhealthy environment usually messes up the kid for life. Just look at Saddam Hussein.

Default That sucks... but rubbing compound, dude... stuff works wonders on scuffs like that.

It may be worse than I can see in the pic, but give that a try.

Default ....I hope that was a bit of hyperbole-

Uncle Sam "dictating" who can and cannot have children? I dont even want them telling me that I have to pay $2500 a year for insurance to drive my TT!

I think I will end there so as not to get too far off topic...
