Default you mean the ones for the seat back, right?

The long ones that stick out into the hatch. In order to get them out if you want to, you'll need a very deep socket. The only one that's worked so far for me and everyone else is a Sears Craftsman, so save yourself some time and go get that one. Removing that striker pin is also the way to loosen the hatch trim panels.

Removing the rear seat is definitely the way to go, though, IMO. Just make sure you invest in a cargo net, 'cause stuff starts flying around back there pretty quickly, that is, if you're driving right... : )

Default Did you just leave the pins out? Is there a cover I can get for the holes?

I have been driving with my rear seat folded for like the last month, and have had a few instances of things flying up between the seats. I guess that means I am driving right The cargo blocks / rear mat aren't enough to keep things in place anymore.

Default Sounds like you're driving correctly : )

For now, I just left it out, and I don't really notice it. I'm sure there's lots of things that would fit in there though, or be able to cover it.

What I've found to be very helpful is one or two of the Case Logic folding cargo carriers. They fold down when not used, have velcro on the bottom to keep them in place, and can be very useful for transporting things and keeping them in place back there. Got mine at Target, but I've seen in many other stores.

I took mine out to fit a custom subwoofer box where the seat used to be. That's an option! If you're not into that though, you're going to have kind of a pit with an oddly shaped bottom where the seat used to be. Not as bad as it sounds, this could relatively easily be made into more cargo/storage space, with some doors that lift up for compartments behind the seats, and maybe a middle compartment that you can access from between the front seats. A storage area may help prevent things from rolling into the front seat; just remember that if it sticks up a ways, it may prevent you from reclining your seats to a certain degree if it's too close to them.

You are the masTTer of your casTTle, though...have fun with it.

Cheers,

Rich

Default Maybe a rubber plug. I will have to look around.

I am going to do something like this I think. Although I am not satisfied with the current sound system in the TT and might do something there as well. Thanks for all your input. Do you happen to have any pics of your setup?

Default Re:

Yeah, I think that's a nice setup. You can see in that pic what I was talking about, that the box may affect how far you can recline your seats. (Really not that big of a deal, IMHO). I got a piece of trunk liner material through my stereo shop and had them cut it and use 3M spray adhesive to keep the whole trunk floor the same material, looks nice and more finished.

There's some pics of my current setup in my pic post (click on the user acct. # I think. The cool thing is you can stash so much stuff behind the side panels in the rear seat area that you can have a nice clean install without lining the cargo area with amps, etc.

Search on subs and you'll see lots of options, depending how involved you want to get. An Infinity Basslink is another option, with room for a storage area still.

Have fun!
