Default Drove new R32...Pretty tempting...

Loved the car...My brother has an extremely modded 337 which I like, but the R32 with 4-wheel drive and naturally aspirated is awesome. Loved the sound. Being in college, its hard carrying crap in the TT, which is one reason I wouldnt mind an S4 or the R32...My dad said he would prolly get me the R32, but wouldnt let me keep the TT...I cant let it go though, still love it too much...I am making the right choice RIGHT???

Sounds like you have a nice dad. When I was in college, I had a old Volvo followed by a used Honda.

So I suppose a TT or R32 would have been welcome then?

Default yes and no...

i'm the type of person that feels the need to earn what they have. i had a car before college, but i worked my *** off and bought it myself...my family was pretty poor (single parent household, my mom worked three jobs), so i got a job when i was 15 and bought it myself. nothing special, 1986 crx si (fun car, though).

i worked through college and bought a 1990 prelude si before i left school. i've busted my butt to pay for whatever cars i've had (15 to date), thanks to a good job and a good work ethic. being in a band isn't cheap either.

and there's everyone's abc afterschool tv special for the day... (LOL)

Default Yep, I can relate...

I've worked continuously since I was 12 years old (with one 3 month break). At that age, I took a bus about 15 miles to the music store that my dad was Executive VP of. I made $1.65 per hour, which was the minimum wage at that time. I thought I was rich!

Paid for all of my own books through college. My dad did buy be a used car when I graduated high school, but that's it.

I've never asked for or wanted money from my parents or anyone else. The only money I ever took from my family since age 18 was when I went on vacation a few years back. My dad, who gives my sister $600 per month plus pays for insurance, gas and that sort of thing, put $1,000 in my pocket and said "Have a good time on your trip". I politely refused and returned the money. He then said, "If you don't take it, I'm going to give it to your sister."

So I took it.

BTW, I had a Honda Prelude Si (that I paid for) as well. It was possibly the best car I've ever owned!

Default Re: To actually answer the question...

The R32 would be a fun and practical car to have. The lack of turbo lag (unless that's your thing) and the extra room would probably be nice (from the point of view of a fellow college student). The down-side that I see is that the R32 looks like a golf to the non-car person while the TT is a really distinctive car. If your dad's hell bent on getting rid of the TT and like the R32 I would seriously take that into account, after all, you can always get another TT later.

I have an A4 and am out of my mind over the TT (I will hopefully be getting a 3.2 TTR this winter) so I can understand the love of the TT.

I don't know what year you are in college, but if you're near the beginning I wouldn't underestimate the usefullness of the extra space.

Default im a sophomore...

I just have put a lot of time in money into my TT. I also agree, non car people wont realize the diff. between a golf and the R32...I think Ill keep my TT though, at least until my dad will "lend" me the money for a Silver S4

well, good, it's nice to see others like myself out there. and the prelude was a great car! the last generation prelude was nice too. if it would've been RWD i'd probably still have one.

I hate to admit it because I'm kind of a stoic guy, but I actually shed a tear when I traded the Prelude Si in. I had so many good times in that car. It was reliable, economical, and the performance was pretty good as well!

Even though most Japanese cars don't have "soul" like the German cars can, I think my Prelude Si had a lot of soul!
