Default quick update on torquesteer angel eyes....

Spoke with Eugene @ TS today. You guys should have yours by the end of this week, 'cuz he should have them finally today.

As to what you do with them when you actually get them....as he says, there are many ways to install them on the TT. I think I'm gonna go the route of drilling 3 tiny holes through the black molded plastic part and tie them in with fishing line. I really don't want to drill through the metal reflector like they did to the GTI in their online instructions. He also said it would be fine to pry off the little "clips" near the end of the ring if they're in the way, which they appear to be for our install. It's basically a transplanted GTI kit, which isn't a big deal, we just don't necessarily need everything that's in the kit, nor will we necessarily install it the same way the the GTI kids will.

I feel a little better about proceeding with drilling now that I've spoken with him.. He decided to leave it up to us a little bit because of the different ways of installing, but I feel like I'd rather drill through the molded plastic part than the reflector, and I'm guessing that others will opt for that choice as well.

I'll try to post something with some pics later in the week once I get this started.

Cheers,

Rich

Default There may be some other issues if Eugene is just sending the GTI kit. I got mine several

weeks ago and just started playing with it. If you're getting the GTI kit, the larger ring is too large, by an 1" or so, and the smaller one is too small, only comes around about 2/3rds. I was going to ask Eugene if it's safe to cut them down and drill the ends back out. Haven't yet.
And to avoid drilling the reflector, are you planning on positioning the rings in front of the reflectors? I haven't looked into that.
I actually picked up a couple of extra headlights that had been partially gutted to play around with. I'm still trying to remove the reflectors without breaking the tabs off.
Good luck, Steve

Steve,

thanks for your thoughts and experimentation! Just to be sure we're talking about the same parts, when you say "reflector", you're talking about the round, silver light reflector, right? Think so, just wanted to be sure. You're trying to remove those, or the amber reflectors without breaking the tabs?

Just from my brief experimenting, I don't think Eugene is saying that the whole kit is the same, just parts of it. He did say that the larger ring is the same as the GTI though, he said they're the same size, so it should fit. The plastic clips on the ends of the rings could come off, if need be, for your particular installation. I'm going to try to install them in front of the silver reflector to avoid cutting into it.
Assuming the rings are hollow to allow for the fiber optics to pass through, cutting it should be fine it seems.

I'll be trying all this tonight, and let 'ya know.

Yep, the light reflector. I was trying to place the lexan, or whatever it is, loop inside of it. And you would have to remove it to be able to drill it. But, if attaching the loop to the front works, that would simplify it a lot. And you wouldn't have to disassemble much. Also, the loops are hollow on the ends only, about a 1/4" in.
I'll check in to see how you do. Did Eugene say anything about the first person who did this? I assume that's wheret the pics came from. Eugene was suppose to hook me up with him, but never did.

Oh well. Talk to ya. Steve

Yeah,

It looks like it can be done without removing the whole reflector....that's a job, and these are expensive lights!

Look back over the weekend for posts on this...was discussing with TTonU, TTempted, etc., and there's a pic from that other guy that did it. Looks like it's on the outside of the reflector attached with a little wire.

I'll keep 'ya posted.
