Default DVs : don't fix if it ain't broke?

Seems that a new DV is a basic checklist item for everyone here, but this guy seems to think that unless yours is broken, there's no reason to upgrade it. Does anyone with an '02 on up confirm any improvements if you DV didn't honk or fail yet?

dv review

Default After chipping, you may notice that the

powerband isn't very smooth. Updating my DV really smooothed it out, and makes it more driveable, IMHO. W/o a chip, prolly doesn't matter.

59,000 miles on my original. If I chip it might get replaced.

Default Coltrane, are you in CA? Do you have SPS 1, 2, or 3?

I am trying to compare my Revo boost readings with others. I am getting boost to 16 and hold steady at 10. Better than stock, but not by much.

Default I got the SPS 2 with anti theft and two octane settings.

My dealer told me there are two software settings to choose from: 3 or 4 bar. I chose the 4 bar setting from the get go.

Did you get this choice when you were uploaded?

Default Nope, didn't get a choice . . .

I just went with what the tuner suggested. Are you running 91 octane and holding boost at 20 psi?

Default Re: Nope, didn't get a choice . . .

Yes, Socal 91 ron gas...and no preignition. Honestly, no kidding, I can hold ~20 psi and no screech for well over 6 seconds....and up to 25 psi but with screech...i bet replacing stock air box with TTDA with solve this screech situation more so than just the turbo hose alone.

I have learned to hold 20psi in really get steady power out of the revo and turbo with, of course, the slight normal turbo lag. BTW, i am still running the stock DV. No honking, yet. Mind you, I don't alwasys push car to 20psi but I don't baby it either. I can't always zip around town you know.

Who is your revo dealer? I went to the one in City of Industry. My dealer included in my purchase a timing and boost adjustment for free (meaning i can go to another setting offered by SPS 3 and then return to my current setting) as a one shot adjustment. I have not taken him up on his offer yet but might if I ever go with 100 octane for a weekend.
