Default In search of roadster mod

Anyone know of a way to disable the stupid "safety" mechanism that won't let me raise the top untill the car is completely stopped? Or a way to enable "one touch" top up/down? Both avail as a mod on a 996 cab, wondering if you can do either on a TTR. I know the speed thing is for safety, but as long as I am less than 10 mph, I should be able to raise it without issue....

Default Jeff Bipes has a technique for it, but it involves disassembly & soldering.

Which may or may not be too much of a pain for you.

Default His was the first place I checked, but did not see anything...

Mr Bipes- how challenging is the mod? Any photos? Did not see anything on your very comprehensive site (but admittedly only browsed the portal page)

No, not true. I have not messed with this, and do not intend to, not with our tops.

Default Cool- any ideas how to accomplish both/either?

For the 996, you can get a module (similar to the one your brother makes for the SLK, I am guessing) to do one touch up/down. Can disable the speed issue with a clip of a wire....hoping that similar german engineering is used in the TT.

Default If you wanted to do one-touch up/down with the stock switch, that's easy...

If you wanted to control it from the remote, that's a bit more difficult. My brother and I have looked into modifying his "box" to be used with the TT.
It could be done, but probably not easily when the car is in motion.
His work to get that accomplished in the SLK was *major* I'll tell you, for many reasons.
There are too many safety switches to by-pass on the TT to make this happen, and them with our soft-tops, it's just not advisable.
