Well what a pleasant surprise.....
I took my car in for it's 60k.
After I picked it up, the CEL came on.
So I turned back to the dealer. It appears that the MAF was faulty.
I had the tech check the timing belt to make sure it looked ok during the service so he may have rattled the MAF?
So while he's running the diagnostics 2 faults came up.
Here's one:
17536, P1128 035
Bank 1, Mixture adaption (mult.)
System too lean
He says that the car is chipped and that's why it's registering a lean system.
It's supposed to be running 0-10% or something. Mines at 11.7% sometimes hitting 18%?
All greek to me!
Anyone have ideas on how I find out what make of chip is in there?

explanation of air/fuel mixture...
...car's computer to regulate the air/fuel mixture. If it is not working properly, the engine can run rich causing the spark plugs to foul... but really isn't bad for the engine to run too rich...and helps a little to cool the valves (not the primary function of running and engine rich, but it does help a little) extreme lean of a fuel mixture can cause detonation which is bad and happens to be the leaning cause of failing turbo and high compression engines. Leaning can make a engine run hotter and harder and give you a little more performance, but anything to the extreme is not good. Chips tend to lean out the engine, but depending on the chip how much they lean or advance the timing equals how much more stress to the engine. It's all about balance.

<shakes head>... I wonder where some of these "technicians" get their training...
...They must train them to use "chipping" or "aftermarket parts" as an excuse for crappy OEM parts that commonly fail.
Don't worry about the "system too lean" code, it's a result of the faulty MAF. I've had it, as have hundreds of others. Whether or not your car is chipped has NOTHING to do with it. Mine had never been chipped before my MAF died. It sounds like you didn't even know that it was chipped at all? Maybe the tech just has his head up his *** and decided that since the MAF failed, it *must* be chipped.
