Default High-altitude (5000+) peeps w/boost gauge>> need info from you

got my awe gauge installed and want to compare vac readings at idle in nuetral with ac on and off.

mine with ac off

I know I won't pull as much vac at elevation as compared to sealevel... but I remember the GTI pulling alot more vac than this!

are your readings similar or do I have a vac leak somewhere???

Default Got leak?

My gage read about the same, until I replaced a torn DV diaphram. I'm not as high as you but pull about 25+ in at idle.

I live about 150 mi. East of you in the Jemez mtns. It's cool enough here 8,000-9,500 ft. that I don't usually use the AC on my commute. So I turned it on coming home today. My car, which is identical to yours (2003 225 hp QC) idles at 15 in.Hg and went down to 10.5 in Hg at idle with the AC on. This was at my house at 8,000 ft. Readings were from AWE vent gauge like in your pictures. You don't have a vacuum leak.

My 'test range' where I log measurement blocks using VAG-COM in the morning on the way to work is an uphill straight away at 9,500 ft. It's like I'm testing the engine in a Mooney (single engine aircraft).

I've been reading a lot of the info here over the last few months and have installed a lot of the mods mentioned. Thanks everybody - This was the first time I thought I could help with some original info.
