Replacing Bose HU with excelon, where do I find a harness? How do I handle the amp?
I've had electronics "feature creep" going on and I think I just hit my limit. I bought a soundgate multiswitch to integrate the XM commander that was already in the vehicle but hooked up via FM. In addition the Garmin GPS just isn't looking like such a good idea either.
I think I'm going to scrap the whole setup and go with an excelon KVT-815DVD. I looked at the pioneer and alpine offerings and they don't seem to fit the bill, nor do they appear to fit the TT and allow the hatch to close.
The KVT-815DVD and its GPS box can be had for $1500 now on eBay, apparently they're clearing them out ostensibly for next years model.
I'm going to do the KVT-815DVD, GPS, Sirius and music keg. I already have the phatbox oem and am very happy with it.
Anyhoo anyone have any pointers before I pull the trigger? I assume I will need to do some wiring conversion for the bose amp and wiring, I don't see anything on it at Jeffs site though.
Is there a pre-fab harness for a 2001 roadster?
Is the Bose amp an issue?
Also is there a source for the little plastic blocks on the end to make up for the smaller DIN mount?

Answering some of my own questions: here's a custom harness that looks about right
