odd noise from underneath car?
2001 225BHP quattro TT, RHD.
Got an odd noise coming from the underside of the car, only when the engine/exhaust is warm. Basically, at low revs, if you accelerate, or rev the engine, a very short 'metallic grating' sound can be heard from underneath the car.
My first thought is that its the exhaust, something loose perhaps? It happens in any gear (including reverse), or when in neutral and parked up. It only happens when the car has warmed up; cold, it makes no noise. Also, its only a very short noise (1/2 a second), and I can't make it happen any longer, even if I hold the revs.
Just thought I'd ask before the ripoff merchants at the dealer bull**** me.
