Updatte: car's fixed under warranty- bad water pump. Thanks to everyone!
I wanted to thank FasTTr for the kind offer of loaning me a K CPU and Jim TT for his remarkable diagnosis and information. Brought my car into the stealership with less than 8 weeks left on the warranty and they honored it, replaced the water pump.
After popping the cover on my ECU I noticed GIAC sockets the chip. They were able to socket the OEM chip for $50 and I did the swap. It went undetected.
