Default SCREECH!

So... I finally have a TTDA (will report on that soon... short summary - awesome), and today I got REVO'd. I also have a Forge 007 DV. So when I had the trial version, I had the screech. Now with the full version, I still have the screech. We dialed back the boost setting to 5, and that quited things a bit, but it looks like it'll have to be dialed back to 4. I called REVO, and asked about the supposed 09/04 update, and they said they still have reports about the screech. The only thing they recommended was dialing back the boost, trying to swap out springs in the DV, or removing the MAF screen. The performance is great (although boost setting 6 was awesome) but my car still sounds like a small jet aircraft when it hits 4500 RPM. Anyone else find a solution, other than dialing the boost back? Does anyone have any theories as to what's going on with the REVO software and the screech? Thanks.

Default What boost are you hitting at the screech? Mine only does it (and then only faintly) over 21 psi,

often not until 23 psi or higher. There really is no need to be going that high on a regular basis.

Also, since replacing my MAF, it happens less often. MAF replacement was done as part of my rich mixture troubleshooting. I suspect the screech has to do with the richness of the mixture. I know that Revo makes the mixture more rich at higher boost, so that goes together with a few of the datapoints...

Well, I don't have a boost gauge. My MAF was just replaced though. I'd have to VAG it and check block 115. My car is a 2001 QC 180HP. I guess I'll have it dialed back to 4 next week. If it goes away, then I guess the obvious answer is too much boost (If this is the case, then why does the boost setting go up to 9? Seems like 9 would cause something to implode).

not power. You will also go into a soft limp around 21psi per MAP sensor.

The little K03 won't take that much boost and I'm not sure of the K03s on this, but guess the same is true.

Advise: get a boost gauge...:-)

Default What are you getting over various gears in your 180?

I think I'm peaking around 17-18 in 2nd, and around 22 in 3rd and 4th with my Revo.

Does a soft limp 'reset' after the car's been turned off? It hasn't gone into any limp mode that I know of, but I'd rather it not (obviously).

either by disconnecting the ECU or battery or by a VAG-COM.
