Suspension Creaking Dangerous?

I have the dreaded 2001 suspension creak...seems to be getting worse. Is this a potentially dangerous problem? Thanks.

my swaybars creak, no problems, just annoying.

Squeaks going over speed bumps, getting in/out of car, any maneuver affecting the suspension. Is this just the sway bars or could it be the bushings...in any case...don't feel like shelling out hundreds to fix the squeaking unless it's a safety issue.

Could be sway bar bushing need to be replaced, or you have....

a bent piece of suspension. Mine is in the shop right now for the same noise and I just got a call from them saying that they replaced the sway bar after previously replacing the bushings and that not solving the problem. Hopefully they fixed it right this time.

probably get flamed for this...

you could try a bit of wd-40 where metal (springs, etc.) touches rubber. might help. that's what i do for my jeep with the poly bushings in the leaf springs.

Started on my 2001 last week... Neuspeed rear bar: they're sending out the newer bushings...>

Neuspeed is sending out newer bushings that have grooves in the inner bore to hold extra grease--looks sort of like it was tapped for a screw thread. I'm hoping that will stop the creak.

Some have wrapped the sway bar in teflon tape where it gets held by the bushings...

Lowering the air pressure in the rear tires from 34psi to 32psi (and slightly warmer weather) seems to have helped it a bit until I put the new bushings in. Either that, or it's a welcomed placebo effect!

The rear would be an easy DIY yourself. The fronts are more difficult.

I have the same issue up front:

It sounds like a metal on metal noise to me, happens under the same circumstances: small bumps, etc. The first time it happened, the car was still under warranty and the dealer replaced the front sway bar mounts, claiming they were broken. The problem remained solved for a year or so and started again recently. While in the shop for some body work last week, I had them check out the squeak and I was informed the bushings on the front sway bar need to be replaced. Of course they happen to have a Neuspeed sway bar available, but that is too much money for me right now. I may order replacement OE style bushings from ECS and try that before spending the big $ on the Neuspeed unit.
