Default Is there any history of bad fuel sensors in TTs?

My 2001 quattro roadster is about 6 weeks out of warranty (natch) and the fuel sensor just went bad. They're quoting me $1200 to replace it. This car only has 23,800 miles on it!! Is there any history of this part being defective?

No official recalls but yes it has been problematic for TTs

Get another estimate. Should only be about $450.

Default My '01 had same problem, a bottle of Techron fixed it. However, my '03 has the same problem...

...and the Techron ain't working! > So it's going in for new fuel senders under warranty soon.

In your situation, I'd suggest a bottle or two of Techron to see if that helps.

And yes, Audi does have a history of bad fuel senders, see link. Looks like they still cannot figure it out!

Audi A6 Quattro Recall Question and Answer

I've been hunting, but haven't found much. Any ideas on where tolook? I'm looking for ammo to try to argue Audi to cover this under warranty. Though dealing with the cardboard cutout who answered the phone at customer service was such a waste of time that I don't hold out much hope.

Default And oh so helpful...

8. Can I drive my car without fear of encountering a problem even if my fuel gauge does not work properly?
Yes, you can. Just refuel your vehicle every 200 to 250 miles.

Default Someone has probably checked before but...

find out what the part # is for the recalled A6 FSU (you should be able to ask on the A6 forum) and see if it is the same part # for the TT.

Default That price seems like a instrument cluster job....

both time that my fuel gauge acted up it was because of a faulty instrument cluster....
