is below the textured section of the dipstick. Crap! (the engine is luke-warm.) Sorry if this is a stupid question.

not a stupid question, I think alot of 1.8t are known to eat oil, mine at 60k never does though.

Of course. It varies. My 180 TTQC did not take but about 1/2 quart in 5,000 mile change intervals.

My 225 2002 TTQC used a quart every 2,500 miles in 5,000 mile change intervals.

My 250 3.2 2004 TTQC has not shown any oil consumption on the dipstick in the last 5,000 miles.
So, it depends on the car and how it is broken in and driven.

Default Your gonna get busted on "no additional info posts"....>>>

Not uncommon! How many miles?

My '02 used about 1.5 quarts every change, but since hitting 20k, I haven't used hardly any!

Default here's some details: 2002 225QR, 28k miles, last change was 3k miles ago but it was in February.(!)

I'm a little confused about maintenance concerns....it used to be that you change your oil every 3000 miles or every 3 months, whichever came first. Well, I travel a lot for work and don't drive the TT as much as I'd like. Anyway, since February (when i did the oil change myself) I've only driven 3000 miles. Our intervals are supposed to be every 10k...I choose to do it every 5k just because I'm ****, but what about time between changes instead of miles between changes? Am I just splitting hairs here? The oil is a little dirty, but it's definitely got 2k miles left in it. Thanks for the advice!! (I'm not the original owner and don't know exactly how it was broken in.)

Default Of all my 1.8T's (four in total) my 225 uses the most oil inbetween changes - about 1.5 quarts

between 5k changes.

Default Mine did until I replumbed the PCV system a little...>

1 qt/4K up until 15K when I made the changes. Might be coincidental, but it hasn't lost any between changes since (now at 38K)

I put in Mobil 1 at 25k when I did it myself, maybe it will stop after a while. Thanks!
