whats up with the homelink in my TT

I just changed openers (now a Genie) and I cant get it working either. >>
Always worked great with the old Liftmaster opener.
I think I remember someone posting about how their Genie opener didnt with Homelink.
The car seems to "learn" from the hand remote...flashes the lights 3 times...but the door doesnt open afterward.
I'm going to try "teaching" the door from the car when I get home tonight.

You need to use the "learn" function from the opener as well on some systems
you do the remote first and there is an additional step where you have to use the program button on the opener itself as well.

ok i got it to work... i have a liftmaster as well
I think i was maybe doing it wrong.
first erase all the codes on the tt, then take a remote for the liftmaster and program that on the home link first, then press the learn button the liftmaster and you have like 30 secs to go and press(hold) the button on the homelink where you first tried to program the remote .
