Fuel Gauge Reading Incorrectly

My fuel gauge will read just over half full when actually empty(didn't find out the hard way). I recently added a compustar remote start/alarm and removed the inst cluster. Anybody have any ideas?Can this gauge be adjusted?

Could be a faulty sending unit, seems to happen quite often.

You may get lucky.....>>

if it's the senders. Run a few bottles of Tecron through the car during your next few fill-ups and see if that doesn't clean the sender contacts and bring the gauge back to life. This recently worked for me. You can also remove and clean them but it's a bit more involved. If neither of those works, you may be due for a cluster....Flukey gauge readings are one of the early symptoms..

Try the passenger side first. Process takes about an hour.

One time my gas gauge flaked out on me also...

All it took to fix it was a fuel fill-up at the local gas station and that seemed to fix/reset the incorrect needle reading. Issue never returned, that was almost a year ago.
