So what you do probably depends on how much grease was lost. If the boot isn't split, perhaps you can reinject grease and tighten or replace the clamp. OEM clamp isn't reusable thought. It's prob'ly obvious, but there should be one where I've marked a yellow band. IIRC you need some sort of special tool to tighten the OEM Audi clamps, but maybe there are other types usable.
Your M-I-L's original clamp must have broken and fallen off. I'd reseal it soon to prevent dirt and other abraisve crud from getting, inside and slowly grinding up the CV joint itself.
