Default leaky CV? boot, how critical to replace?

was doing an oil change yesterday on my mother-in-law's TT, and saw this underneath. Is it critical to replace it asap, or?

TIA

Default Similar issue discussed yesterday

Check the post <link below> from yesterday... not sure how much of a PITA replacemant is.

So what you do probably depends on how much grease was lost. If the boot isn't split, perhaps you can reinject grease and tighten or replace the clamp. OEM clamp isn't reusable thought. Check the link to a more complete discussion...

Click for another recent CV boot issue

Default I don't see a clamp on there, or am I blind?

it doesn't appear that the boot is torn, but I'll double check tonight

Default Damn... you're right! I'd inject grease and reclamp...>

It's prob'ly obvious, but there should be one where I've marked a yellow band. IIRC you need some sort of special tool to tighten the OEM Audi clamps, but maybe there are other types usable.

Your M-I-L's original clamp must have broken and fallen off. I'd reseal it soon to prevent dirt and other abraisve crud from getting, inside and slowly grinding up the CV joint itself.

Default Good Idea,

Just make sure that no dirt/debris got in back some grease and re-clamp it.
