Just finished an oil change and a spirited 24 degree F. test drive.
Laying on a cold garage floor even with a blanket doing an oil change sure sucks. The good news is I've got this thing down to a science and it only took me about 45 minutes including pouring the used stuff back into empty containers.
After the oil change, I decided I needed to go warm the new oil up a bit. 24 degrees outside....holy ish, I forgot how much this car likes cold weather. This thing is downright fast. I haven't driven it much lately especially since it's been so cold. I had Ed's car out last night when it was equally as cold and his is pretty darned quick too. Turbos love cold.

Crap! I gotta buy oil! Thanks for reminding me...I think...
Not looking forward to changing mine in the cold either, but it must be done. Hopefully it'll go smoothly and quickly. I must say that I'm curious how well the filter wrench I bought works.

just finished my 1 day oil change on Saturday
Fun experience with my first oil change on the TT. Took off the cover and found out I didnt really need to. got the oil drained. Found the oil filter and then saw there was a damn bar in the way to get to it. So I tried and tried to get it off, but couldnt so I left my friend's house, and went to my house to get my oil filter cap sockets. Came back to find out none of them fit. Go back to autozone and buy the cap that fits my new oil filter, and find it doesnt fit the old one. Say screw it and take the biggest screwdriver I could find and hammer it into the old filter. 30 minutes later its off and Im done. Stupid TT oil filter. Good news is I got her a new K&N drop in air filter to go with the new oil change.

Yeah, it takes a time or two of doing the oil change to get it down.....
and even once you break it loose, it's hard to get out of the compartment. There's only one area that it will fit out through. Kind of a pain the first couple times......And next time, forget the screw driver and filter wrenches.....Big channel locks.

this mean you went from OEM to an alternate oil filter?
I'm assuming the OEM ones haven't changed... on my wife's Passat (longitudinally-mounted 1.8T) they moved to a MONGO-sized oil filter. Looks like VW's diesel oil filter--way larger and required a different cap filter.

Thanx TToro. It had a little NAPA filter on it and I put on a Mobil 1
Scared me when I got it off cause it took me a while to find that space where it can barely fit through. Started wondering if I had been attacking it from the wrong place for a second. LOL
