Tuning Problem------please help me.. URGENT

hi. my TT is a 2000 180bhp. currently, im pushing my car up to a 1.7bar. that's because of Revo Stage1. Now, my car is in a shop for VTDA, **** + boost machine installation(thanks to steve). Could anybody advise me if it's still safe for my car to tune up to 2.0bar? I'll be waiting for your reply.

Seems to me to beyond the range for a K03. Others will chime in though, I'm sure.

You are pushing that 180 a bit too hard I think. 1.7 bar is 25 PSI and way past the efficiency range of that turbo. You're making a lot of heat at that number. From experience here and with boost machine applications, 20psi or 1.4 bar is a better number for a couple of reasons. Ultimately the car will not generate as much heat so the timing won't be pulled back as far, and the turbo will live longer! Because of the timing issue, you may find the car performing better at the lower boost number. Power is not all about boost. Most 100 octane programs just deal with timing advances rather than pressure. What we have found on a few REVO applications is that the installer has dialed up the parameters way too high. You need to adjust them back down to say 16PSI or 1.1 bar, then adjust back up to the 1.4 number with the boost machine. You will find this is the best set-up and allow you to benefit from the smoothing characteristics of the BM....

So that's the reason why the mechanic was so surprised when he saw the graph that my car is pumping 1.7.

I'll follow what you say. Thanks for this. Now I can sleep peacefully. LOL

I'm surprised you weren't going into limp mode constantly at those pressures! 180's usually limp out prior to that number, but 225's will go a little higher before the computer cries Uncle....
