Unbelievable, but true.

I was extolling the virtues of the little blue Bosch Automotive Handbook to someone once, and made the egregious claim that it had an answer for all things physical. I was asked for the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow, and after fumbling around in the book for a while found this entry on page 467 (18th German ed., 1st English ed., 1976):

Common swallow 200 km/h (55.6 m/s)

We agreed that the swallow must have been unladen, and we were both a little dumbfounded that this entry existed.
