Timing belt replacement - Just quoted $1600! - Norwalk, CT
I'm getting close to 70K on my '01 TT.
Called dealer for price quote on timing belt.
$1600! This seems very pricey!
Does anyone have a recommendation in the Norwalk, CT area that might be more reasonable?

oh fairfield audi...
not a bad place, i bought my A4 there, but yeah, the service is overpriced.
im not sure about the TT 1.8t timing belt average cost, but for the A4 $800-$1200 is resonable...im guessing they should be about the same.

Dealer here in CA quoted me the same - $1600.
They are smoking crack. I got the timing belt kit fron Dieselgeek.com for $265 and found a VW place that did the labor for $375. All for less than $700.

Don't know about Norwalk, CT but when I had quote for 225 TTQC...
from an independent shop in California in June, 2005, the price for timing belt, tensioner, and new water pump with metal impeller would have been $1,500.
So, if your dealer price also includes a water pump it may be in line with February of 2006 pricing. If not, I would recommend trying an independent shop because unless your car is CPO you are out of warranty anyhow.
