To the nutball who was the first to replace thier own turbo intake hose ...
Just got the TIP out. To get the turbo side clamp I had to glue the 7mm socket to the clamp nut. At the time the 7mm socket was electrical-taped to several socket extensions and articulating knuckles. I was then only able to get to this chain-of-socket-set-crap with a side winding ratchet.
To the mad-hungarian who put my clamp on in such an odd angle. Bite me you crazy, sadistic bast-rd!
I feel better. Back to getting the Samco TIP back in and growing new hair and skin on my hands.
Thanks everyone for your advice. The drinking and chain swearing did help.
The scene looked something like this, (note Powerbook open to AW TT forum for desperate advice..) Took me around 3-4 hours to get the old hose out, and about the same (on a different night) to get the new one in, after sufficient recovery and psychoTTherapy. Even with the rope trick, which took me at least an hour to accomplish, I wasn't sure which direction to pull (toward the front of the car maybe?). Yeah. Forehead planted firmly on the firewall rub strip, knees screaming on the front of the engine bay, arms wrapped around the engine in a bearhug, mouth in turbocursing mode. This is not a procedure my big uncoordinated hands will handle again...
..ok, now off to the hospital to do some circumcisions.. (which are infinitely easier, btw...)
Fortunately I was on call the night of the turbo hose install and in scrubs and had to be up all night anyway..
