Default Question for those w/ both ProDiag and Vag-Com...

Is the ProDiag cable (the OBD-serial half) electrically compatible with Vag-Com?

I run ProDiag on my Tungsten and just recently stumbled into an older laptop. I'd like to play with Vag-Com, for the data graphing, but don't want to buy another cable. So I am wondering if the OBD-to-Serial part of my ProDiag cable would be the same to a Vag-Com's OBD-to-Serial port cable? And which one, Hex? Iso? They all look essentially the same but I'm wondering about electrical compatibility... and the same OBD pins wired to the same serial pins?

Any risk in trying to hook the laptop up to the car? Advise please before I toast something...

TIA,
~john

Default i believe so. its a plain serial cable from the OBD...then i have to use a serial to Palm cable

to make it all work...so it comes in two parts.

Default since I posted the original question, I've heard I need to use a null modem...

unfortunately that's beyond my ken. So I may try it out, but I'm a bit hestitant, not wanting to blow anything up.

Thanks
