TT (Mk1) Discussion Discussion forum for the Mk1 Audi TT Coupe & Roadster produced from 2000-2006

Let's just say, (for sake of argument) that I were to mount 5x112 ET 20 wheels to my TT.

Default Let's just say, (for sake of argument) that I were to mount 5x112 ET 20 wheels to my TT.

What would be some of the negative things that I might expect to run into.

I know I would need adapters and would proably need tuner lugs. Anything else come to mind?

Thanks!

Assuming the width is no less than 8 inches, ET20 plus adapters would stick out of the wheel wells

Default They are 8s, but according to meem's calculator, they would be inside the wells

by 4mm front and 10mm rear.

So, what is the width of the wheel, and out of curiosity, what wheel are you considering?

Default No good then...Usually adapters are at least 20mm....

YOu need that thickness to recess the attaching bolts..

Default That's using meem's calculator and not taking into account the width of the adapters>>

The thinnest adapter that you can find would probably be 20mm. So taking that into account at the very least, you would be 24mm outside in the front, and 30mm outside in the rear.

Uh... since the TT isn't 5x112, I think that'd be a problem.

Default okay, so if I had 5 and 10 mm adapters made, would that solve all the issues

or would the offset still wonk up the handling etc?

Default Impossible...Why don't you drop this idea and..>>>

get proper wheels for the car? You can't make adapters that slim. You need to bolt them to the hubs....
