Default The invader is still here....

but a lot closer to being gone. I slacked off most of today and only worked on it a few hours. The learning curve for a car I've never worked on before is rather steep.

Had to figure out a way to support the engine when the transmission was out. Not quite as slick as the support Steve just bought, but, it'll do:

Separate the tranny from the engine:

Install new clutch and flywheel:

Then muscle the tranny back onto the engine and install the mount:

Garage should be back to Audi Parking Only mode by tomorrow.

So, what you're saying is this is marginally more difficult than, say, changing the air filter?

Default Good progress though Chris!

I can see clearly why that $86 was well spent!

Default I'd say the old clutch disc was just about spent...

he definitely got his money's worth out of this one.

Default Definitely a good investment-- the Honda engine has 4 mounts>>

and to do the clutch 3 of them have to come off. Although, I'm thinking for the timing belt, only the front one would come off, leaving the other 3 in place which should be plenty to hold the engine (it's hanging by only 2 right now), so you may not need it for this job. Then again, maybe you will, if you have to raise/lower the engine during the process for access to different parts.

Default If the air filter is a 2 on a scale of 1-10, this is maybe a 2.25

Default Only 70K....but all in the city, and I'm suspecting he does a lot of downshift-braking

we'll have to have a chat about his driving style I think.

Oh, good. My friend has a Veyron that needs a new DSG. I'll help him next Saturday.
