I found mine via ebay (ended up buying it "offline") and around 6-8 months ago 50-60 listings was the norm... New model coming out and warranties expiring probably have something to do with the increase in TTs available...

I have been pondering the idea. It is time for me to get a track dedicated car. Thinking of Porsche but I am very leery of buying a car off eBay. Let alone a Porsche.

It can be a great experience or terrible... Like anything else, do your homework and check feedback (if a dealer). A private owner who has taken great care of his/her TT is the way to go but you won't have the feedback history to go by (at least on cars). You won't get a CPO but with the money you save you can purchase an extended warranty if you want. With dealers, usually if you start a dialog and the car doesn't sell you can get a price better than their original reserve... Definitley buy local so you can inspect and have the car checked out...
I bought my wife's Lexus from a small local dealer who lists on ebay and it's been great (still under warranty, but no issues)...
The TT is not my daily driver so I was more tolerant (and had the time) to address the minor issues...

I've bought 2 cars and a motorcycle off ebay.
I bought my TT from Carsource Usa out of Chicago.. they list on ebay quite frequently.. (Maher is the top dog there.. great guy to deal with) I also purchased my 325is and my Titan cycle.. I always make sure to get a line of communication going between the seller and myself. Kind of get a feel for how the vehicle was maintained.. So far I'm 3/3 on ebay vehicle purchases..
