Default Choosing aftermarket shocks: how do you know which type of shock properly matches our spring rates?

Let's assume we're on stock springs. If the shocks aren't adjustable, then you're stuck with the fixed damp rate.

Mine ws this way for awhile, and I've done one other.

Default Yup - Bilstein HDs- stock springs- beautiful combination.

Throw in the Neuspeed rear sway bar and you'll be
done.

Default I believe you guys, but was wondering how you knew to choose the HDs. >>>

It's odd that damping rates aren't part of a shock's advertised specs, you'd think that'd be the most important buying decision.

Default Because HD's and Sports have the same dampening rate - only difference is shaft legnth

HD's are for stock springs - Sports are for lowering springs.

Default But either will work with either...>>>

HD's are 22mm longer in shaft length but work fine with moderate drops of 1 inch or so. I had HD's on stock springs and now on Eibachs. If going lower is in the plan, go for the sports.

Default I chose the HDs based on talking to a few local experts (Russ Scott) and reading lots of posts

Seemed this was the best bet for what I was looking
for - and it was! They may take a while to "settle" in, but provide a nice ride and a substantial
improvement in handling.

But it's safer to just tell people to use the Sports when lowering :-)
