transmission feels sticky coming out of first and into second
is this a sign of clutch/transmission problems on the way? I was planning to change the transmission fluid soon anyway as it's probably due, I'm hoping that will fix it. Any other ideas? Thanks!

John, been using this for 68k miles.... works WELL!
Severe Gear just came out. I'm using the previous AmsOil product (a 75w-90 GL4 synthetic). I ran $100+ worth of synthetics through my transmission (all of the trick stuff, including both Red Line products) on a trial basis... AmsOil outperforms them ALL, especially in 1-2 upshift smoothness. It warms up quickly (one trip through the gears, on the coldest morning) and then the trans shifts like buttah!!! It's so smooth that the trans/shifting just drops off your mental radar screen... becoming totally transparent. The older product is that good, and the literature says Severe Gear exceeds it in all performance parameters. I see no reason to doubt this claim.

Thanks Russ, I'll probably give this a try
My concern is that it isn't a transmission fluid problem and is potentially the clutch not completely disengaging.
Any idea on how much I'll need to fill the transmission, front diff and bevel box?

you bet John... the Bentley says 2.7 quarts. I usually buy 3 and put it all in...
I think the odds are in your favor re clutch failure. If the hydraulics that actuate the clutch are going away, you'll see failure to disengage. That would give trouble in all shifting, including going into 1st from neutral. It wouldn't appear as 1-2 problems only. If the clutch is worn it will slip, usually in the higher gears, (4,5,or 6). The engine will run away, reving higher than normal, under high torque. Let off the gas and the clutch will hook back up. You might smell burning friction material too (alot like overheated brakes).
So, try the good lube first, unless you've got these other symptoms too.
