Who here have the IPOD in your car with an aftermarket radio... I want to install it but

I don't know what aftermarket radio has that option... Please help! !

Kenwood for sure, and many others...>

take an adater to control the ipod through the HU. If you just want Aux-in most all HU's have that now...<ul><li><a href="http://www.fourtitude.com/news/publish/Features/article_1972.shtml">Read Joe's Kenwood install article here where he does this...</a></li></ul>

Lots of aftermarket radios offer full I pod interface...I just installed a Kenwood 722 in my Cabriolet and it works great. Also, Alpine, Sony and Pioneer / Panasonic (to name a few)all offer I-Pod connectivity. Most of the models require installation of a same-brand I-Pod adapter which is a little box that connects to the back of the radio and gives you the pigtail for hookup. Adapters are 100-130 dollars, but they work great....with mine, just plug in the I-Pod and then you can tuck it away....all controlling is done through the radio controls. Last week installed a Harmon Kardon Drive+Play for the iPod....

I was considering running the iPod through the head unit, but the installations I've seen have always been compromised betwen lack of full functionality or awkward interfaces or just plain pokey response. I installed the HK D+P last week and IT IS AWESOME. I mounted the controller on the center console behind the shifter, just right of the front of the handbrake. I mounted the small screen centered atop the dash at the rear of the defroster vents. The interface is virtually identical to the iPod's- very intuitive, which is important while trying to drive and scroll through 250 playlists- and the screen location up high means I can see the road ahead and find the playlist I want without worrying about running into a tree. Check out the link if you're not familiar with the D+P. It's a nice little piece of hardware, and it's only another $75 or so more than you'll have to pay for the adapters that go to most aftermarket head units. While some may prefer the all-in-one, cleaner solution, I love the functionality more. I plan to take some pictures of the finished install.
