Default Getting some extensive lag

When my TT isn't warm, not in reference to temperature outside, more like the first time I start it each day, it has a bit of chugging when I hit the gas. It's like a hesitation, or a clog. Almost like the spark plugs are fouled. But I get about 2 blocks down the road, and it runs fine. It's an '01 225, 32k miles, and I make sure the car is warm before any medium to fast acceleration. I believe it has measures to cool the turbo down after driving, but I make sure I take it real easy for the last 5 minutes of my drive home every time I use it. Time for a tuneup? I've had problems with cars in the past having a fouled plug here and there, but the problem doesn't usually just go away in a couple of blocks. I'd appreciate any suggested measures I can take to seek out the root of the problem.

Thanks in advance.

Jim

PS - I would also appreciate any links to "How to's" for any suggestions you do make. If you don't have one, it's cool post anyway.

Default I have the exact same problem......>>

It takes a hot shower and a little coffee in the morning before I'm up to running wide open.

You're due for plugs at 40K. Do em now and you might notice a difference. Also put a new Green temp sensor in as that is a chronic warm up issue. Otherwise all the sensors that read various conditions on the engine will not smooth things out, provide optimum fuel mixes etc. until things are up to temp. I don't think anything's wrong actually that the above won't minimize...

All the How to's are at the FAQ link below..

Default Mine was doing the same damn thing...

...it would only last for a few blocks and then it would be fine. I went in for my 30k service and the tech couldn't find anything. Two weeks later I got a CEL and returned to the service dept. They found the secondary air pump had failed. Dunno if that was the cause or a contributor but it's been fine since.

I Don't want to send you off in the wrong direction - it just sounded very familiar and thought it worth mentioning. I'm also NOT a very good source of TT info (yet) so I would do what Steve said.

Default This is exactly what my car is doing. And it probably started right around the same

mileage yours has now. I looked at my temp sensor, and it looked to be okay, so I didn't replace it. I may try that now to see what happens. It's only about 12 bucks,

BTW, mine's a 2002 w 43k mi//40k svc was done at 35k miles and did not help the problem...

Default I had the same problem and I got my spark plugs and temp sensor replaced 2 days ago......

It seemed to have cured the problem, although I can't say which one was the root The tech did mention that the temp sensor has been a problem with the car running rich and it has been throwing codes in TT's. (The black sensor only.) This is some repeat info since some other people have said this in your thread already, but the new sensor is green. My car is at 60k and the guy said he also replaced my spark plugs because the old ones looked bad. That's all I know. I hope it helps you.
