Do HID bulbs loose effectiveness...

my car is an '01 and they just don't seem that bright/white/effective. when i drive beside other cars with halogen they don't seem that far off. i'm thinking about investing in some new bulbs around 5000 kelvin. i know this will get them more blue than ever on the original 4300k's but my main concern is brightness. they are almost worse that some new cars with just halogens and they don't even compare to newer car HID's. so do they grow dim as they grow old?

i've got the 6500k PHILIPS on mine....

and they are alrite....they are whiter.....but not blue/purple (those are the 8500k)

Yes. A lot. Probably 40-50% during the first 60k miles

yeah, that would be sweet

i worry about loosing too much light due to trying toget a cool color.

Then you got ripped off..

Philips doesn't make a 6500K D2S bulb.

Their 85122WX (nee' Ultinon) is rated at 5800K (usually marketed as 6000K), produces less light (2400 vs. 3200 lumens) and is not legal for street use in the US or Europe.

you might lose a lil bit of 'light' but not a whole lot.....i mean you see a much greater lost when going from regular halogen blubs to those super white halogen bulbs.....but not much with going to a whiter HID bulbs....i guess its the amt of power HID uses

but i know if you go with 8000-8500k you WILL lose a lot more light

and that's why i went with 6500k
