random trip to barber motorsports park from some friends...

I'd heard how beautiful it was. Those shots certainly do the place justice. I visited the museum many years ago when it was in a warehouse in downtown Birmingham....Still impressive. The track was just a dream at the time but I did get a gander at the artists rendering. Nice to see someone with the conviction (and money) to pull this off.

Our local track is fairly nice huh?
Barber is 5 miles from my home. Last fall's ACNA DE there was one of my favorite weekends of all time. Hope to see some of you guys there this Nov. The track is challenging yet safe. Can be hard on brakes and tires if you push. I watched a bit of an SCCA track day on Saturday there and was surprised to see that their passing was not as controlled as the ACNA event was. Saw passing on both sides , some passes in the turns, and a couple of spins where the driver just backed back into the track and continued. I'm not sure I would have wanted my TT out there. Good place for a dedicated Track car. I timed a fairly stock looking C5 Corvette at 1 minute 46 seconds. Thought that pretty impressive. On our Audi Club day in November most of the better TTs and S4s were in the 2 minute 5 second range. There was a Carrera GT there that day in Nov. I wish I had timed it to compare to that Corvette.
