For those attending TT-East, one surprising thing is that...
The Trapp Family Lodge charges your room upfront for one night. Just got my Amex bill and they hit me for $170 with an arrival and departure date of 4/4/06. I called and they said it was "standard procedure". I told them politely that I didn't like their procedure of charging for a stay that was 4 months away.

Is this fee a deposit? I was told on the phone nothing about an early charge
of 170.00 fee. Only about a cancellation fee of 20.00

A deposit is required to confirm your reservation. Credit cards will be
processed at the time of reservation. If you cancel your
reservation 14 days or more prior to your arrival date, there will be a $20
administration fee. If your reservation is cancelled,
altered, or reduced within 14 days of arrival, the entire deposit is subject
to forfeiture.

First time I've ever been charged for a room in advance...
I can understand if you don't show up or call to cancel, but it's odd to charge this early, in my experience. I recently stayed at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and they didn't bill in advance.
It's not a deal breaker, just kind of an unusual thing that I'd prefer they didn't do. They certainly should have explained it at the time of the reservation.
