wanna know about DSG
the DSG technology is very quick.

The rest of the manufacturers caught on with their own version of this marketing hype, that instead of putting selectable "3", "2" (and in rare case) "1" (and/or "4"), below "D", they revised the shift gate and added a button on the steering wheel or shifter to sequentially select the rest of the gears. They should have their own names - but it's defintely not tiptronic.
So further German transmission innovations copied - I mean followed by other makes include the 1st 5 speed automatic transmission (E class), the 1st 6 speed Auto, the 1st 7 speed Auto. And soon to be copied I mean followed - DSG.
Now, DSG is a manual transmission, not based auto shifting tranny. In other words, it doesn't use a planetary gearing system from automatic transmissions, but solid engaging gears and 2 clutches. There is nothing else by any other manufacturer like it.
Also, there were articles in auto magazines when DSG was introduced in the TT, and you can find those via Google search.
It can be in one gear and have the next most logical gear preselected for the amazing shift speed. It also is completely drive by wire. The only manual linkage is the shift lock. The DSG is a huge leap forward in technology and it looks like Audi will be pushing for many more DSG transmissions for other models. Personally I like the total control of the manual trans but I've also driven many DSG trans and love them.
The DSG trans also loves grapes for some reason.
