Also, if the muffler is oriented north/south it is FWD, east/west it is quattro.

Default Look under the car. If there is no driveshaft to the rear, then it is FWD, not Quattro.
That is in case the car is de-badged.

Look through the rear wheel spokes, see any CV? yes ="quattro". No= "dous"
