Default anyone ever lost the plug in front of the oil drain plug?

driving along tonight, heard a thud like driving over a brick, then a rattle, stopped, the noise stopped, limped it a block home and after pulling the covers off I found a small hole where it looks like there had been a plug pressed into the bottom of the engine block. ?????
its about 6" forward of the oil drain.
now my oil is all over town and my tt's underside plus there's this ~3/4" hole. what gives?
any info or knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

You won't happen to have a pic? So the damaged part is on the oil pan?

Default You're probably talking about the oil level sensor fitting. Also.....

If there is no oil in the engine, it's not a good idea to drive the car. At all.

I'm not that bad. It didn't leak much til I shut it off. then it poured out. probably lost 1/2 quart in the 2 blocks to my garage.
see pix in above msg.

Default my guess>>

someone started to loosen that, then stopped when they realized it wasn't the oil drain. of course, they forgot to tighten it back up.
