Bad Gas = Bad fuel gauge?? Kind of Long.
Monday I go to use the car and I see the fuel gauge full. Fine. I use the car all week and the fuel gauge still says full. I use up all that foul gas and I fill up at my regular gas station, with premium. Now the fuel gauge seems to be fine.
I asked my step father, if he used premium and he said yes and then I asked him where he filled up and he told me at my regular spot.
I think he is lying...or he just doesn't remember. Because I let him use the car last month and he forgot to turn the lights off, so my battery died.
Has there been anybody else with this knid of problem?? TIA
But in a nutshell, if 1-2 treatments of Techron do not help and the problem continues, then you need to pull & physically clean the fuel sending units (there are 2 in the gas tank, complicated process) or replace the fuel sending units (self or through dealer); and/or you need a new instrument cluster (through dealer and expensive if not in warranty).
I had my cluster replaced once for this while still under warranty.
Easy solution. You don't need the Audi special tool as some have used other methods to remove the retainer.
Hope this helps.<ul><li><a href="http://images5.fotki.com/v73/photos/5/58883/297210/DSCN2158-vi.jpg">Cleaning sender...</a></li></ul>
