Front wheel rattle...
My left front wheel has had a rattle in it for over a year now and with the warm weather and my windows down it is getting annoying again. I have had the wheel off and banged on everything and cannot reproduce the rattle. I replaced the swaybar end links last summer and that didn't solve it. This rattle is a metal tinny sound that sound like a brake rotor dust shield rattling.(I checked that too) It happens when hitting bumps and will happen when the brakes are applied and with the front suspension loaded too. It sounds as if its something on the suspension as the rattle seems to happen as the wheel vibrates over a bump. I checked heat shields also but it is too pronounced at the left front wheel. The only thing I can somewhat make rattle is the ride height sensor with the link on it that connects to the lower control arm. I am thinking of disconnecting it and driving to see if that may be it, just that seems like the unlikely culprit. Anyone with any thoughts or similiar experiences?? Mine is an '01 225QC with 53,000 mi.

May have found something...
I am wondering if the coil spring has sagged some allowing the upper coils to become just close enough to vibrate together over certain bumps causing a noise. The noise sounds like something that would make. I took some 1/8 inch thick tar like matting and cut some squares and stuck them on one of the coils. I'll see what happens on the ride home from work.
