non-TT talk: radar detector recommendation
i never ever had this in my life. does it work well? I'm not a speed freak, but a very unlucky person. I don't usualy drive fast but I've been pulled over few times for driving above speed limit.
i bet there are tons of these, but before I go ahead with google search, what have you used and what would you recommend? i'm thinking about getting one due to my long highway commute now. thanks.

I have a Valentine One and I like it, but I have not used anything else.
It was my first radar detector as well when I first got my TT back in 2000. Never have gotten a ticket (knock on wood) and it has served me very well.
I have it hardwired so that it goes on/off with the ignition. Here's the head unit and remote placement. Pics are of my previous '01 TT, but same placement in my '03.

I use the Escort Passport S2 cordless detector. Very sensitive and no cords...
Not quite as sensitive as the V1 or 8500 because it samples the signal to save on battery life, but it's still very good.

Escort 8500,just as good as V1 I think, Love it, and saved my butt several times...
many here are fans of the V1,( you'll see) but I think it realy does not matter which direction it's comming from, you hear it you slow down imiediatly, then you are safe. Save the $$ for another mod
