Default Out of Warranty in One Month

Our warranty on the 2002 TT Roadster will expire at the end of May, and thouigh the car has less than 20,000 miles, is there anything that we should have the Dealer do before it does expire? Are there any items that are prone to breaking, and should be replaced now?

Just last week, we asked for the 20,000 Maintenance, and they performed the 40,000, which is better than the 20k (since it includes plugs and change of Haldex oil and filter).

Is there anything else?

Default Trade it in now for a CPO 2005or 2006 model....>>

You have had done all a dealer will do under factory warranty. Items that are prone to breaking include, but are not limited to, instrument cluster, timing belt, water pump, fuel sending unit, top switch, top power motor, window operators, 3rd gear synchros in transmission and lots of other items you can find in search. However, a dealer is not going to replace any item ahead of its actual breaking or failure.

Thus, my recommendation to trade for a 2005 or 2006 CPO.

Or, just keep putting money in reserve each month in case you need it for expensive repairs.

Or, consider purchasing and extended warranty from a reputable company. There was a post about that yesterday and someone made a recommendation for a warranty company on this site.

Personally, I prefer CPO Audi TT's since the MK I model has many known faults, and, although I love the MK I TT, I like the CPO warranty so Audi buys most of the cost of major repairs.

Default Maybe new coil packs, new discs & pads...

Depends on how "generous" your dealer is, but it sounds like they treat you well, so it's worth a try. And just get anything replaced that's not 100% perfect, again, worth a try and the worse they can say is no. Might also want to consider an extended warranty.

Default Re: Think about Audi PUR

Which is an extended warranty offered by Audi. It's not quite as god as CPO, but depending on the level of coverage you select, it can be pretty good. Also, then you're covered to have the work done at the dealers shops, instead of 3rd party shops.

You can find out more by calling AOA, and they will give you a list of dealers in your area who will sell it to you. Trick is, that they will really oly sell it to you if your cr is still under Audi warranty...so gotta move pretty quickly.

Hope this helps...
Michael

Default And you're saying you'd rather have the dealer's shop work on your car instead of an independant?

No spanks, then again, no warrenty for me no more.

Default I agree...but he seemed happy with his current warranty situation...so wanted to throw it out there.

Also...I had trouble getting a 3rd party for the 02 TT in my area (ny)...but Audi PUR was available.

Better to know all the options out there.
