NGK like Tony. Cheap, easy to gap and trouble free.

Default Can I thread jack a bit? How hard is the install of SPs?

I know on "regular" engines (ones I've seen worked on in shows and such, hey I'm a noob) it seems like a real basic job.

On our engine it seems "more complicated" but I don't know why or how. I guess two basic questions:

1. What do I need to gap the plugs (just that gauge from pep boys or whatever?) and what is the procedure?

2. How hard is the install and do I need to know anything special besides remove old, install new (after gapping them)?

Local shop want a bit to install them and I don't know why.. I'm trying to do as much as I can myself that I haven't done before (having them do oil change.. I've done it, know how to do it and they are cheap).

Thanks!

Default Not bad at all. Remove engine cover, move N249 valve/bracket out of the way.

Remove coilpacks (2x allen each). Use sparkplug socket and 12" socket extension to unscrew sparkplugs. Reverse procedure to install new ones. ;-)

Gapping them is the same as any sparkplug you've dealt with before.

Default NGK PFR6Q

which is what Audi recommends.

Denso Iridium IK20 lasted about 32K

NGK BKR6EIX (Laser iridium) lasted about 25K.

I've had the PFR6Qs go 40K.
