Default 2004 TT Roadster S line question

Hello,
I own a 2003 A4 Avant 3L fully loaded and love the car. I'm thinking of getting a 2004 TT roadster that my local dealer has brand new with only 1000K. It has the S line package and DSG gear box. Any advice on reliability? was 2004 a good year for this vehicle? was 2004 the first year for DSG and was there any potential problems I should know about? any positive or negative comments would be greatly appreciated...

Eric

I have a CPO 2004 TTQC 3.2 DSG. It has 18,500 miles now and is trouble-free.

DSG is excellent IMO.

Make sure you get CPO warranty and make sure you know date first in service. That date is in the Audi computer. Your 6-year 100,000 mile warranty starts at date first in service. Also the 4-year, 50,000 mile free service part of Audi's warranty starts at the date first in service.

Another item of importance is service intervals. Even though the car only has 1,000 miles, if it is more than one year since it was put into service, it has to be given the next service in the maintenance manual before you take possession of it. Audi's warranty is based not only on mileage but on time, and it is important to follow the rules so warranty items are not disallowed in case you need them, but did not follow the warranty rules.

DSG uber alles...

Thanks very much for the info... great points..
What do you mean by CPO and IMO (sorry).
what is QC?
They have turned this into a Certified Pre-owned to extand tha warranty as it has been in their showroom for almost 2 years. I asked them why it has not sold and they dodn't know. It did have an original $70,000 ticket price (CDN dollars) so maybe that's why?

Default CPO=Certified Pre-owned. IMO=In my opinion. DSG uber alles= DSG over all.>>

QC=Quattro Coupe.

Negotiate a price based on what would be reasonable for that car where you live in Canada.

I do not know if Edmunds or Kelly Blue Book or others have web sites in Canada that apply to Canada and Canadian dollars, but you must know or be able to find out resources for determining car prices in Canada. Maybe a Google search?

Negotiate the price you want to pay. If it has been around for 2 years, you should be able to negotiate. I would think they would be happy to get it off the floor...

They are asking $59000.00 and willing to negotiate so it's a great price. That's roughly $52000.00 US.

The black book price (wholesale) is listed at $43000.00, which is pretty low for a car with a new sticker price of $71000.00

I'll check the retail value online. Thanks again for your help... Where you located?

Winston,
We have a 2003 Avant 3L fully loaded model... we have the same cars... very cool and this TT we are looking at is the same as yours, even the colour...

How cool... Do you have the S line kit? Are you happy with the car? We were going to wait for the 2007 but this one is so cool and I like the old body shape... classic...

Where you located?

Default $59,000 Canadian and $52,000 US seem high to me. Research carefully...>>

Negotiate well. If wholesale is $43,000 Canadian, I would consider letting the dealer make not more than 10% over wholesale, so that would be $47,300 Canadian? I am not up on exchange rates at all, but it seems like they are asking a tad high. Maybe Canadian folks on Audiworld can help you better.

I live and work in the San Francisco Bay area.

Default Whoa. $59K Canadian= $51.7K US after Google search...>>>

Are TT's really that costly in Canada? A CPO TT Roadster would be under $40K in USA dollars would be my guess. I am going to search on the Audi USA site. I recommend you search on the Audi Canada site for comparable 2004 TT Roadsters.

Default OK Carousel in Wayzata, MN has a CPO silver 3.2 roadster for $40,900.USD...>>>

It is a 2005 model with 7,200+ miles. Not knowing Canadian TT values, I can only conclude that the asking price you mentioned is quite high for a 2004, even with only 1,000 miles on the odometer. But, I must emphasize, I have limited knowledge of values in the USA, and no knowledge of Canadian prices.
