Default Phase One Complete*** Presenting Gunpowder Black Metallic (High Bandwidth)

Finally I have some pictures after a long wait. The car went in for a full repaint on May 1st and I got it back on the 12th. I looked long and hard to find a paint color that was unique and sinister that no one else has. I was also pulled in the direction of the flat black style seen so often on race/concept/testing cars.

I tried to stay as true to my early ideas as possible but I did have to make some changes and sacrifices along the way. The original paint color is a Honda motorcycle color and was offered only in a Matte finish. I wanted to keep the matte finish but after discussing car care with my body shop guy and several others, along with the desire for longevitity the decision was made to apply the paint in a traditional base coat/clear coat fashion. This of course did away with the Matte style but still offers a very unique look. The other decision I had to make was to not fill in the aliens and other grooves in the new 3.2 front bumper. I know many have had success with this but many others have also had problems with cracking, shrinkage, or buldging in the long term. Again in my desire to keep this paint for the long haul I decided to go with the traditional look. And due to my location removing the license plate was also out of the question.

Now for the pictures. The paint is so hard to capture in pictures. It really needs to be seen in person to appreciate. It can look black, flat, silver, grey, dolomite, and any combonation of them depending on distance, lighting and angles. While I did have to make a few changes and it wasn't 100% what I planned on going in I can honestly say I am not in the least bit disappointed. I hope you all enjoy the pictures, there are a ton more in my Fotki, and the high res versions of any picture you want are available there as well.

You can see here how different the paint can look in different situations.

*** Complete denotes complete in an incomplete sense. There are several small parts to Phase one that will actually be completed during Phase two which requires removal of the front bumper again. At that point lower grilles will be installed along with other minor details.

Feedback positive and negative is appreciated. Just be gentle. ;-)

Thanks! Still needs tails tinted, 19" rims and probably coil-overs for a little more drop.
