Default Tire recomendations

I need to replace my tires, and I'm wondering what you all recomend. I am leaning towards Yokohama because I've always had good luck with them. The AVS ES 100's were a spectacular tire. Anyone on the Advan sports or Pirelli P-Zero Nero?

Default Goodyear Eagle F1s . . .

Just put on a set (going from 17s to 18s). I've also had experience with them on an R32. They're sticky, exceptional in the wet, and wear well (a friend of mine in Calif. has over 30,000 miles on his rears--another R32). An excellent summer performance tire. Call Eric at Tire Rack, x391. He can give you lots of insights from their testing.

Default I have them on my Miata....

15" mind you. Very sticky. Only compaints are

1) it seems as though the sidewall is a little soft. I don't know this to be the case for certain, but it gives that feeling on initial turn-in, and I've heard this complaint from others regarding this tire on the Miata.

2) on the RWD Miata, they are downright scary when the pavement is cold. Probably less of an issue in a FWD or quattro TT.

Default 2nd. Put them on my OEM 18s last week, went slightly wider >>

to 235, but be advised this extra 10mm can be expensive.

Default I agree with your first point - turn-in was never as sharp as I like it to be.

The trade-off was a much more comfortable ride from an UHP tire than you'd expect. I never felt the cold weather issue you mention, though.

Default 3rd. Grip is astonishing, even in the wet. Initial turn-in response is dull, but the tires do...

... communicate well and overall road feel is excellent. They're comfortable and quiet, even when worn. The wet grip is truly amazing, especially when quattro hooks-up.

If you liked the ES-100s (rTTc), you'll absolutely love the GS-D3s. I had ES-100s for only about 75 miles and hated them so much I tossed them. Got the GS-D3s as a replacement and it was a night-and-day difference.

Default I just got Kumho Ecsta SPT's yesterday....

Impressions so far are very good but we'll see how long they last, I had Ecsta 711s before which also started out well but after about 10K sounded like a freight train was running through my car. Still they were only $110 each and seem to get good reviews on various sites.

Lots of people like the Falken Azenis ST115. (I'm on my second set of these.)
