Default My V1 headunit and remote hardwire install...>>>

Headunit is hardwired to the central power point under dash just above the gas/brake pedals. Requires dropping the lower dash panel.

Remote held in with velcro "dots". Flat phone cord wire tucked in between headliner and windshield.

Default I have an Escort 8500 X50 and I did a simple install and ran the wire from the fuse panel, >>

up the A-pillar, across the headliner and down to the rear view mirror. It was easy to tuck the wire and hide it.

Jeff Bipes has some good info on where to pick up power and a couple of other install locations.

Easy and best are a matter of opinion and obviously skill of the installer <ul><li><a href="http://www.loomknitting.com/auditt/">Jeff's site</a></li></ul>

Default right, be aware of these terminals and use them cautiously if at all.

<img src="http://www.loomknitting.com/auditt/images/12vterminals.jpg">
Look at the 4 terminal lugs. I show them here for reference. You can use these to see where you can tap in for the +12 V, but you need to be very careful if you do. These lugs are buss terminal feeds from the battery, to the fuse box. They are LIVE +12V. If you tap into one of these posts, be sure you use an in-line fuse to your radar detector. The yellow lug at the left is "switched". Keep the lead as short as possible, from the fuse holder to these lugs. In fact, I DO NOT recommend that you tap in here, if you are at all concerned about doing this. If you do not fuse a circuit coming from this area, you run the risk of melting a wire, and starting a fire. These terminals are 20 and 30 amps. or more. Any wire coming from these posts, and reaching ground, will immediately heat up, and become red hot like the coil heater in an electric oven. This will happen way before a fuseable strip will blow, if at all. Also, look closely at this pic, on the left. I added in the fuse, (transparent holder) on the left into a fused circuit to run my radar detector.

Default Jeff, as per AWE's instructions, I wired my boost gauge there.

Do you recommend that I wire it elsewhere?

the 75A terminal is always hot. The others are switched. Did you at least use a fuse?

Default V1 connected at fuse box, power wire tucked between windshield and headliner.

Have the same setup on all three cars: '04 3.2TTQC, '04 Jetta TDI, and '03 allroad.

Default Negative. I can re-wire at work tomorrow, though. Where should I tap in...

without a fuse? Or, do you just recommend that I buy a fuse and leave it where it is? Thanks for your help, Jeff.
