i think i have an alternator problem.

I can't start the car without a jumpstart. Even right after I drove the car for a couple hours.

Sometimes, while I'm driving, the car just shuts off without any notice.

It's shouldn't be a battery problem, because I had it replaced a couple weeks ago, and this sears checks the new battery (sears die hard international) before install.

...sounds like the alternator no?

Put a voltmeter on it....>>

If the alternator is putting out correctly into a charged battery, Voltage across the Bat terminals should be 13.7-13.9.

If you paid the extra ~$13 for Sears to install it they should have checked the alternator...

at least that is what they told me on Monday when I replaced mine. I opted to install it myself so maybe the sales guy was stretching the truth by saying they check the alternator load for the $13 install.
