Default TTDA vs. VTDA that is the question.

I am just wondering why I have started to see the move to all VTDA's and no TTDA's any more? Does it flow better or something. I'm just curious.

Default Yes...>

flows better, Cheaper, sounds cooler, easier to install, looks better in the Bay, more color and finish choices. Sales running 4:1 in favor of the VTDA. Some of my troll buddies will tell you I'm a hypocrite for coming up with this design, but as it turned out, few would (or could) run full front feeds that made the TTDA work best. The TTDA is a better "Technical" solution to the problem of getting air into the engine if done with feeds, but the VTDA is probably the more practical, given it's simpler design, and certainly more marketable given the changing demographics.
The better flow overcomes many of the heat issues. If you can run a front feed or two you have the benefit of both worlds. I really like it, and so do most who've put one in....:-)

Default Much simpler with the 225...

You just cut 2 little round holes in the hood & adjust that bracket on the black dual snorkel thingy a bit. You don't even need the hose for the VTDA. ;^)

Default I however, am a full supporter of the TTDA, with the proper tube routing/air intake.

I have it, I cut my inner fender lining to prove it, and this is what I'm sticking with.

Default I don't ...

drive the TT enough to provide an honest before/after assessment, but it does make sense to me that "cooler air is a good thing."

Default some things i noticed between the two Josh...>>>

The VTDA was louder and slightly better performance in the winter than the TTDA. That said, i put in cold air feeds with Schwing on a recent visit this spring, with interesting results.....

1- at speed, the car is MUCH quicker...throttle input is instantaneous...
2- Power in 6th gear on a 70-100 run is amazing!!!

Once the weather warmed, i tried the TTDA with the same feeds (we did a custom install)...some things i noticed.

1- at slower speeds, throttle response was a bit slower with the TTDA
2- power seemed off just a touch at lower speeds
3- however at speed...the TTDA seems quicker. The 70-100 run with a TTDA feels stronger than a TTDA...

So, where does that leave me...well, i re-installed the VTDA. Just seems to be more balanced overall...will be trying again when it gets really hot, and that is where the TTDA should shine....test to be done soon...

Those without the cold air feeds i believe would still enjoy the VTDA overall, moreso than the TTDA...IMO
