Factory warranty expiring, low mileage 2002, two questions
Even though it's my daily driver I have a very short commute, and after almost 4 years I only have 11K on the car. For the most part it's been trouble-free, had the glove box replaced, but nothing mechanical of any nature.
Question one: I'll bring it in for the final factory maintenance check in a couple of weeks; given the very low miles on the car is there anything specific I should ask them to do/check to give me the best chance for continued problem-free driving? I plan to keep the car for a long time, probably at least 10 years.
Question two: My Audi dealer (Stevens Creek Audi in San Jose) offers an extended coverage plan from the JM@A group, called Gold Plus. It's reasonably comprehensive. They want $2,400 for an additional four years of coverage. There is a rider I can purchase for an additional $200 - $300 dollars (finance manager wasn't sure of the price, said it's new) that will refund my coverage cost if no claims are made in the four years.
If I purchase the coverage I think I would also purchase the additional rider; or I'll keep the money in the bank and go "self-insured" betting any costs of repair in the next four years will be less than $2,400. My driving habits should not change substantially.
I value the feedback on these issues, and thanks very much.
Bruce
