Default Factory warranty expiring, low mileage 2002, two questions

It seems just yesterday I found this forum and asked "thinking of a TT, any suggestions for colors, etc." I would up with a Denim Blue 2002 coup, and I've loved every minute of driving it. It's the 180T, FWD version.

Even though it's my daily driver I have a very short commute, and after almost 4 years I only have 11K on the car. For the most part it's been trouble-free, had the glove box replaced, but nothing mechanical of any nature.

Question one: I'll bring it in for the final factory maintenance check in a couple of weeks; given the very low miles on the car is there anything specific I should ask them to do/check to give me the best chance for continued problem-free driving? I plan to keep the car for a long time, probably at least 10 years.

Question two: My Audi dealer (Stevens Creek Audi in San Jose) offers an extended coverage plan from the JM@A group, called Gold Plus. It's reasonably comprehensive. They want $2,400 for an additional four years of coverage. There is a rider I can purchase for an additional $200 - $300 dollars (finance manager wasn't sure of the price, said it's new) that will refund my coverage cost if no claims are made in the four years.

If I purchase the coverage I think I would also purchase the additional rider; or I'll keep the money in the bank and go "self-insured" betting any costs of repair in the next four years will be less than $2,400. My driving habits should not change substantially.

I value the feedback on these issues, and thanks very much.

Default Based on your low miles, I'd put that money in the bank!

Or spend some of it on Mods!

Default agree,if you keep up with the forum you will know the issues that may happen to

your car. if any happen at all. find a reasonable priced mechanic in your area to fix any issues or service intervals needed for the car.

Default The only warranty I would suggest is the Audi assured. I've heard of people getting it for as cheap

as 2K for 3 years. I think its a cheap insurance BUT if you plan on driving the car as little as you've had, you just may be fine without a warranty. I'd still get one though. It has already paid for itslef on my car and I don't know anyone who ever regreted getting one.

The Audi assured warranty was the initial offering from the dealer - it is better coverage (by a bit), but it would only take me to January of 2009, making it a 2 1/2 year extension for about about the same price as the 4 year Gold Plus. Other than the 1 1/2 year difference, I do agree it's a better way to go.

Thanks for the input.
