TT Owners PLEASE AVISE
Hi,
I'm purchasing a 2001 TT 225HP Roadster with 38K miles and the premium package stuff from a used car dealer...I'm paying $299/month for 72 months, but for $60/month MORE the dealer is offering me THEIR CNA warranty allowing me to take the car to any Audi dealer for 4 years or 48,000 miles (again, the $60 more is for four years or 48000 miles)...Should I get it?
Doesn't cover normal wear and tear and I still haven't asked if there is a deductible, but I'm wondering what you all think? At this point, the car has been inspected and is free of any probs (the dealer is my uncle-so I'm OK in terms of trust)...But after having read through another forum about TT issues (i.e. cluster problems, xenon light issues, etc), I'm kind of freaking out. FYI, I drive maybe 10 miles day max on the average (rarely go on the freeway). But I don't want to spend thousands of dollars every time something goes wrong! Should I shop for a warranty in general? I've never owned an Audi, don't know much about their quirks other than oil burning...But I've been forewarned about going warranty-less...Would anyone recommend any particular warranty? Thanks for your advice!
UPDATE: I'm no math wiz...But maybe I'm making a numbers mistake? OK, I'm getting the car for 20K. Shipping would be $1000 but I'm paying 500.
I'm financing 17K (includes freaking CA registration fees and taxes and shippin). At 6.99%, I pay $299 with NO WARRANTY over 72 months. WITH the warranty, I pay $360 (4 years or 48,000 miles)...I'm a missing something here? Trying to post pics of the car too, but not working out!!
you can get the car certified and/or buy an extended warranty from outside sources for MUCH cheaper than that. do a forum search on the subject for better answers.
If you feel piece-of-mind is worth about $4320 (just doing quick math), then go for it. But, that does seem a little high. However, it does cost more to get an extended warranty on 'used' cars, so maybe I'm wrong and that is a pretty good deal. But for me, that doesn't sound low enough.
just my $.02
